The Advanced Studies Program in Dance and Neuroscience has been created as an international meeting point for professionals who share a common interest: exploring the future of dance through the integration of neuroscience, creativity, technology, and embodied practice.
Developed by the European Institute of Movement Science in collaboration with Martz Contemporary Dance Company, this fully online international programme brings together a diverse community of artists, educators, researchers, movement directors, therapists, and innovators who share a commitment to exploring the future of dance and human movement. Supported by leading European universities and internationally recognised specialists from institutions including City, University of London, Complutense University of Madrid, and Javeriana University of Bogotá, the programme creates a unique environment where scientific knowledge, artistic practice, technological innovation, and professional exchange converge.
More than a training programme, this initiative seeks to foster a vibrant international network of professionals engaged in dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas at the intersection of science and the performing arts. Participants become part of a growing community dedicated to shaping the next generation of creative, pedagogical, and research-based practices in dance and movement.
This second edition introduces an enhanced focus on Breathwork for Performance, recognising the increasingly important role of breathing in creativity, presence, emotional regulation, resilience, and artistic performance. Alongside neuroscience-informed approaches to movement and creativity, participants will explore how Breathwork can become a practical tool for both professional practice and personal development.
Throughout the programme, participants acquire innovative choreographic tools, advanced pedagogical methodologies, perspectives on technology applied to artistic creation and research, and practical strategies that can be transferred to diverse professional contexts, including performance, screen work, education, coaching, research, and therapeutic applications.
Above all, the programme is designed for those who wish not only to adapt to the future of the field, but to actively contribute to shaping it.
